Universal Method for Saxophone

Autor Paul Deville
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 27 apr 2018
Commonly referred to as The Saxophone Bible, this volume is the trusted training method for aspiring and serious musicians. From how to play your first note to mastering advanced concert pieces, it offers exercises and advice for every stage of learning, making it both an excellent guide for dedicated students and an indispensable tool for instructors.
Paul DeVille's guide covers everything students need to learn to develop mastery of the saxophone. He explains the components of the instrument itself, how to make your own reeds, tuning, tone production, fingering, breath control, and playing low and high ranges. Numerous exercises provide reinforcement in playing scales, intervals, slurred and detached notes, arpeggios, cadenzas, and other musical passages. In addition to several operatic melodies and duets for two saxophones, a dozen solos include works by Schubert, Brahms, Donizetti, and other composers. No saxophonist's musical library is complete without this comprehensive guide, now available in a sturdy and inexpensive edition.

Notă biografică

Musician and instructor Paul DeVille published a series of Carl Fisher self-instruction books between 1893 and 1906, including guides for accordion, concertina, banjo, flute, clarinet, guitar, mandolin, trombone, piano, and violin. He noted in a Preface that the saxophone - a relative newcomer, invented in 1840 - was his favorite instrument.
