John Briggs was employed by GEC-Marconi in Leicester for almost 20 years, where he was responsible for the design, trialling, manufacture and international marketing of civil marine navigation-aid racons. He currently takes on civil marine radar-related consultancy work for such clients as GEC-Marconi, Maritime and Coastguard Agency, Royal Ocean Racing, and the International Association of Lighthouse Authorities.
