Fundamentals of Investment

Autor Brian O'Loughlin, Frank O'Brien
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 31 mai 2019
The financial services industry has always been regulated across all jurisdictions. Post the Financial Crash, the role of regulation and the impact of regulation on all aspects of the industry has broadened and intensified. In the education and training sphere, regulators have become much more demanding in requiring firms and their employees to achieve and maintain specific levels of skills and knowledge.
Investment knowledge is a core competence required by large numbers of organisations and individuals in the financial services industry. In particular the knowledge level required of those in customer-facing roles is increasing all the time. This book is aimed at those who require 'mid-level' investment knowledge and competence.
This new edition of The Fundamentals of Investment, offers a comprehensive review of the operations of the industry post-financial crisis, from a variety of perspectives. There are two substantive changes to the previous edition, which run through the entire book. Firstly, the perspective is more international, although the focus is still primarily on the UK and Irish markets. Secondly, the role of the financial planner/adviser has been incorporated throughout the book. The authors' objective is to present the reader with a clear linkage between investment theory and concepts (the 'fundamentals') and the practical application of these concepts to the financial planning and advisory process. More extensive use of examples and case studies will be an important technique in achieving this objective.
